Description:

The Director of Human Resources serves at the pleasure of and under the direction and immediate supervision of the Fire Chief. The Director of Human Resources will assist the Fire Chief in planning, organizing and directing designated divisions, achieving Board policy, goals, and legislative mandates of the Department, and perform other duties as required. The Director of Human Resources is an at-will, exempt status member of the Executive staff team; and is a “miscellaneous” classification employee. Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess and maintain a current valid California Driver’s License, Class C.
• Education must be obtained through a post-secondary institution currently accredited by any accreditation body recognized by either the Counsel for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the United States Department of Education.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Human Resources or closely related field. A Master’s degree is desirable.
• Five years of increasingly responsible human resources experience, including experience in recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, employee development, personnel research, and policy development and interpretation.
