Salary:

The annual salary for the position is up to $164,485 DOQ. Additionally, the County offers a benefits package, including CalPERS.

Description:

Madera County, population of 157,672 with an unincorporated population of 74,000, is currently recruiting for a Director of Human Resources. Appointed by the Board of Supervisors and reporting directly to the County Administrative Officer, the Director of Human Resources supervises a professional HR Department comprised of 13 full-time staff, with 5 direct reports. The Director plans, manages, and oversees the County’s comprehensive personnel program in conformity with the County’s Civil Service System and operates under the oversight of the County Civil Service Commission.

Qualifications:

The County will be heading into a new round of negotiations with its bargaining units; therefore, it is desirable for the Director to possess expertise with labor groups and excellence in negotiations. The ideal candidate must be capable of planning and directing the full range of human resource services and knowledgeable about benefits; relevant California experience is desired. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of progressively responsible professional level personnel experience, preferably in a public sector environment that is subject to Federal and State laws, codes, and regulations pertinent to Madera County, that includes 3 years of supervisory experience.
