Description:

The Director of Human Services sets policy and leads staff effectively by being a dynamic, service oriented leader who embodies advocacy and outreach. Reporting to the County Administrator, the Director has delegated authority and is held accountable for the overall resource development and administration of all programs, services and employees of the department. The ability to maintain high standards of performance, customer service, and positive interactions within an environment that has fiscal challenges and political influences are critical to the position.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for Director of Human Services will have an awareness of Sonoma County culture and diversity, and possess the ability to both create and strategically and tactically implement a clear vision. A degree in social work, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field, and 5+ years of increasingly responsible experience managing a human services organization or large division of such organization is expected in order to meet qualifications. Possession of a Master’s degree is desirable.

Sonoma County offers a total compensation package that is both attractive and competitive. The position receives a cash allowance in addition to base salary.
