Description:

The County of Santa Barbara seeks an inclusive, mission-driven, service-oriented, and visionary Director of Public Health to lead our health services programs that serve Santa Barbara County while overseeing 450 staff, five direct reports, and an approximate budget of $103 million. The Director will be an experienced administrative professional and relationship builder who has extensive experience in public health and has demonstrated experience overseeing and navigating multi-million-dollar, complex funding streams and primary care clinical service delivery.

Qualifications:

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

• Non-Medical Doctor Salary: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree (preferred) in Public Health, Hospital Administration, Business, Public Administration, or related field; and/or
• Medical Doctor Salary: Graduation from an accredited school of medicine, completion of a recognized issued by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance of the State of California, or able to acquire California Status by appointment; AND
• The core competencies listed above and the ability to immediately demonstrate these competencies consistent with the position’s level in the leadership series and the specific work assignment; OR
• A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
• Ideal: Public sector experience in a like-sized and type of agency.
