$130,481.00 – $159,477.00 Annually

Description:

The Director is a Department Head with overall responsibility for the County’s water and resource conservation. The incumbent is accountable for accomplishing departmental goals and objectives, and for furthering County goals and objectives within general policy guidelines. Coordinates and facilitates the efforts of County departments involved in water resources. Represents the County in meetings with state, federal and/or local agencies, and other public or private organizations; speaks before professional organizations and civic groups. Administers the Butte County Water Commission and Technical Advisory Committee. Develops, plans, organizes, coordinates and administers Department of Water and Resource Conservation policies and procedures. Analyzes and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding water resource policies and programs. Reviews and analyzes new or proposed legislation related to water resources. Coordinates and implements the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) in Butte County subbasins in cooperation with Groundwater Sustainability Agencies. Prepares and administers department budget. Administers the Butte County’s State Water Project Table A Allocation.

Qualifications:

Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Physical Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science or a related field; a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Physical Science, Biological Science, Environmental Science, or related field is desirable and may substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible administrative or equivalent experience in a public agency concerned with the management of water resources; additional years of experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis. Employees hired into this classification must file statements of economic interest with the Butte County Clerk/Recorder. A State of California driver’s license may be required.
