The County of Los Angeles is creating a new Department of Economic and Workforce Development to address the economic security and mobility of the County’s residents. The new department will combine existing County programs into a central agency, expanding the role of the County in enhancing the region’s growing economy. Critically, we are seeking an Executive Director to oversee programmatic and policy operations to consolidate and align services that previously reported to four agencies within the County, and create a standalone agency by October 2022. Near term goals include coordinating an ongoing analysis of the County’s assets to assist in post-pandemic recovery efforts.

Qualifications:

• Eight years of highly responsible experience managing a complex and diverse organization in fields such as workforce, economic and community development. • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with administrative or legislative bodies, public governmental bodies, the labor community, federal grantors, political bodies, public and private agencies, non-profit organizations, and the general public. • Unwavering personal integrity and commitment to public service. • Demonstrated success and skills in change leadership within an organization and assisting key stakeholders outside the organization in managing the impact of change. • Knowledge and application of economic forecasting, including factors affecting population, business, and industrial growth. Experienced in the methods, techniques and resources used in economic and industrial research, analysis and planning. • Knowledge of Federal, State and local statutes, ordinances and regulations relating to environmental review, economic development, and workforce development. • An undergraduate degree in an appropriate field.
