Description:

Under the direction of the Director/Chief Deputy Director, the Federal Liaison/Policy Advisor is responsible for evaluating and proposing specific federal transportation policy, as well as advising the Director and Chief Deputy Director on the full range of federal issues and state transportation policy matters that either currently or will affect the Department in the future. The Federal Liaison/Policy Advisor will be essential in assuring that current and future policies and legislation in transportation are not only implemented to ensure a safe and sustainable transportation system, but that they do not restrict the operating capability and flexibility of Caltrans. The position will work closely with Caltrans’ Executive Management across the state, other agencies, and the Executive and Legislative branches of the federal government.

Qualifications:

Expected to be obtained from executive level experience with substantial participation in the formulation, operation and/or evaluation of program policies (experience may have been paid or volunteer; in State service, other government settings, or in a private organization).
