Under general administrative direction of the Health and Human Services Agency Director, plans, organizes, directs and coordinates Health Department programs and services; enforces local health orders and ordinances pertaining to protection of public health; assesses the community health status; advises the Director and Board of Supervisors on community health issues; coordinates assigned activities with other County departments and outside agencies; and performs related work as required. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors as the appointing authority and is accountable for accomplishing departmental goals and objectives and for furthering County goals and objectives.
Equivalent to a Doctorate of Medicine degree from an accredited college or university that is recognized or approved by the Medical Board of California or Osteopathic Medical Board of California. 5 years of increasingly responsible experience demonstrating familiarity with the broad range of specific public health programs in California including 2 years of direct clinical or related private practice experience. Possession of a valid California class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. Possession of a valid license issued by the Medical Board of California or Osteopathic Medical Board of California to practice as a physician and surgeon.
