Description:

The County of Sonoma workforce is comprised of approximately 3,900 employees, and the majority of the workforce is represented by 11 unions. The position works within the HR department’s Employee and Labor Relations unit and reports to the Employee and Labor Relations Manager. Representatives are typically assigned to support specific departments, work with specific bargaining units, and are also assigned special projects.

Day-to-day, this position performs a wide range of professional-level employee/labor relations responsibilities including playing a vital role in conducting and supporting negotiations of collective bargaining agreements and conducting meet and confer meetings.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidate will be/have:
• A highly motivated self-starter with strong and persuasive verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in current, professional-level human resources practices and procedures; employee and/or labor relations experience preferred
• Well-developed critical thinking skills with the ability to see the bigger picture
• Able to analyze detailed information, make sound decisions
• Able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing
• Customer-focused and able to partner with a diverse client base
• Able to thrive in an organization that maintains a fast pace with a competing priorities
