Description:

The San Mateo County Information Services Department is seeking a qualified Division Manager of Applications. This senior management position reports to the Assistant Director of Information Services and is a key member of ISD’s leadership team. The incumbent will provide leadership, guidance, and be responsible for overseeing the execution of day-to-day activities of the Applications Division. Additional duties include the development of goals, priorities, policies, processes based on best practices; supporting the creation of and update to ISD’s strategic plan; partnering closely with key stakeholders to establish multi-year roadmap for enterprise and department specific business applications. Examples of these applications or services include Criminal Justice platform, Human Resources Information Systems (Workday), IT Management platform (ServiceNow), Communications and productivity platform (Microsoft), Enterprise Geographical Information Systems, Website development, etc. This position will also lead modernization and transformation initiatives for all technologies supported by the Applications Division.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess: • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science or a related technical field. • At least 5 years of experience working as a senior manager in a technology related field providing support for enterprise applications, internet and intranet web platforms, customer business applications and database services. • At least 10 years of experience providing training and support of process improvement initiatives. • 5-10 years of experience planning, developing and managing budgets and resources. • 5-10 years of management experience directly managing and supervising technology staff. • Experience collaborating with executive staff to achieve organizational goals. • An enthusiastic interest to work in a team-oriented environment for building a highly effective and successful organization with emphasis on proactive communication, being responsive in all situations and maintaining a positive attitude. • Excitement about working with internal and external partners to identify their business objectives and exceed those objectives whenever possible.
