Under the general direction of the District Manager, the Operations Manager (OM) is an at-will, exempt, confidential, managerial position responsible for the management of the Operations Department and its staff. The OM plans, organizes and directs the District’s Operations program, including building and fleet maintenance. In addition, the OM is an integral member of District management team that assists the District Manager in planning organizing, directing, and evaluating the District’s intra-agency programs (i.e., Operations, Laboratory, and Administration). This position performs advanced professional work which requires the interpretation of advance concepts, methods, procedures, and technologies related to mosquito and vector control. Excellent communication, leadership skills and sound judgement are required. • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in biology, environmental science, public health, public administration, or related field; and five years of management/supervisory experience preferably in mosquito and vector control, • Or, • A Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in biology, environmental science, public health, public administration, or related field; and three years of management/supervisory experience preferably in mosquito and vector control; • Possession of valid California Department of Public Health Certification in Mosquito Control, Terrestrial Invertebrate Vector Control, and Vertebrate Vector Control (Cat. A, B, C, D) is required and must be obtained within 12 months from date of hire. A valid California Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record insurable under the guidance of the Vector Control Joint Powers Agency is required. License must be maintained throughout employment; • Persons selected for appointment may be required to pass a pre-employment medical examination including pre-employment drug testing and a thorough background check.
