The Public Health Officer functions as the Medical Director of the Department of Public Health. The Public Health Officer is responsible for directing the medical aspects of public health programs within local, state, and federal guidelines.

Qualifications:

The position requires: 1) an MD or DO from a approved CA medical school; 2) four years of experience practicing preventative or primary care medicine, with at least two years experience performing management, supervisory or lead duties in a medical setting. OR two years experience practicing preventative or primary care medicine or providing medical consultative services in a County or State Public Health/Human Services Agency, with at least one year of experience performing management, supervisory or lead duties.
3) Valid CA Physician’s and Surgeon’s Certificate and a valid CA CDL by the date of appointment.
