The Real Property Services Manager plans, organizes, supervises and coordinates the appraisal, leasing, purchasing, renting, managing and selling of real property for the County. The Manager works with County departments to help them assess and accurately determine their space needs and is involved in searching for properties for purchase or lease and determining creative and cost-effective ways to use and rehabilitate property. The Real Property Services division consists of five staff including three Real Property Agents and two Management Analysts. The County’s real property interests include a hospital and medical facilities, office campuses, correctional facilities, airports and over 16,000 acres of parks and open space, in addition to public works facilities, rights of way and public service easements. The Real Property Services Division has an annual budget of $4.8 million.
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, accounting, real estate law or a related field. Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the appraisal, purchase, sale and management of real property, including one year of supervisory experience. The ideal candidate will be a technical advisor with expertise involving easements, drainage, rights-of-way, the ability to manage multiple leases and multiple projects simultaneously; a strategic negotiator with experience negotiating acquisitions of a wide range of properties, leases with large commercial property management companies and small property owners; and a strategic problem solver who can make well-reasoned recommendations on real estate matters to the County leadership and the Board of Supervisors.
