Salary:

$122,636.80 – $149,260.80 Annually

Description:

Under administrative direction, plan, organize, manage, coordinate and direct the activities and operation of the Merced County Elections Department, including fiscal management, personnel management, program planning and evaluation. Primary responsibility for the registration of voters, maintenance of voter files, the conduct of federal, state, local and special elections and the verification of initiative referendum and recall petitions, public and political relations, and all matters pertaining to elections in accordance with local, State and Federal requirements. The incumbent is also responsible for analyzing and interpreting new legislation affecting the Elections Department and performs other related work as required.

Qualifications:

Experience:
Five (5) years experience performing complex and diverse administrative/managerial functions and developing and interpreting laws, regulations, policies and procedures with a public agency;
OR
Two years of work experience as an Elections Manager, Assistant Registrar of Voters or equivalent position in an elections department in the State of California.

Education:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a major in Public Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, Economics, Political Science or a closely related field.
