Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Risk/Safety Management Division, as well as responsible for developing, organizing, and leading a professional team.

The incumbent exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative in directing the City’s comprehensive risk management program, property and casualty insurance, Workers’ Compensation, employee safety, contract administration, applicant and employee health screening, and loss prevention. In addition, the incumbent will actively participate in organizational efforts supporting these functions, as well as providing advisory and technical support regarding the various programs.

Qualifications:

A resourceful person who possesses a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in risk management, insurance, business administration, public administration, or a related field; and four years of experience working with risk management, workers’ compensation, or insurance underwriting programs, which included or is supplemented by two years at the supervisory level, is best suited for this position. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License is required. Experience working within a public agency is desirable.
