$41.80-$52.25/Hour

Description:

• Obtain, process, and analyze data for timely completion of the valuations of the most complex and specialized residential, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, technological, agricultural, institutional, mixed-use, and special-use real and personal property for tax assessment purposes
• Present appraisals before the Assessment Appeals Board
• Perform lead work and train new workers
The Assessor’s Office is currently involved in several major projects, including the development of a new Assessor’s Property Assessment System (APAS), and the appraisal and assessment of several large-scale commercial, manufacturing, research and development, and mixed-use developments being built throughout San Mateo County

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position will be a certified appraiser with at least five years’ experience performing both residential and commercial appraisals for assessment purposes, or with six years’ experience appraising real property with three years of experience valuing commercial properties. The ideal candidate will possess a permanent Property Tax Appraiser Certificate issued by the CA BOE. All employees must obtain this certification within one year of appointment to this position. The person hired into this position may be required to obtain the Advanced Appraiser Certificate issued by State Board of Equalization within two years of appointment.
