Description:

The County of San Mateo’s Code Compliance Unit in the Department of Planning and Building is seeking a transformative leader with a strong background in land use/code compliance and experience in relationship building, mentorship, and succession planning. As a role model, the Senior Code Compliance Officer will encourage staff to excel and be proud of the unit’s accomplishments. They will assist in the effort to support the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County using a customer-focused educational approach with sensitivity and compassion.

Qualifications:

The Ideal Candidate will be:
• A professional with demonstrated success in the field of land use/code compliance
• A dynamic leader who can establish effective partnerships with the multi-cultural community, contractors, consumers and staff and who is open to continuing to develop his/her leadership practice
• Astute in resolving controversial issues in a participatory and inclusive manner
• Experienced with, and the skill and ability to use the Accela Land Management system

A typical way to qualify is two years of experience in a position involving policy or procedural compliance in a public service atmosphere.
