The Position: The Ventura County Sheriff’s Human Resources Bureau seeks a progressive and collaborative leader with a reputation for integrity and innovation, to assist in the day-to- day leadership of the Human Resources function. If you have experience devising innovative and transformative HR policies, programs, and systems, and enjoy process improvement, this is the position for you. Reporting to the Sheriff’s Director of Human Resources, the Assistant Director is a classified management position overseeing Recruitment and Selection, Leave of Absence administration, Classification & Compensation, Labor Relations and Equal Employment Opportunity for an office of approximately 1,258 employees. Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience which would demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies listed below. An example of a qualifying education and experience is: Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, human resources management, industrial/organizational psychology, or related field, AND, Experience: Five (5) years of recent and progressively responsible experience in human resources management in a civil service environment, including significant responsibility supervising professional-level staff. Desired qualifications: A graduate degree in business administration, public administration or a related field Law enforcement or public safety human resources experience
