Opportunity to Host a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (YMHFA)
The California Department of Education (CDE) has received a federal grant to provide Youth Mental Health First Aid Training (YMHFA) Trainings throughout the state at your county office of education, school district, or school to increase skills of school staff, parents, community partners, law enforcement, and other youth-serving adults by learning to recognize the signs of emotional distress and connect students to appropriate help.
YMHFA is basic training and not intended for staff with a mental health background. We encourage schools to train administrators, classroom teachers, coaches, and classified staff (yard supervisors, school secretaries, bus drivers, campus monitors, cafeteria workers, instructional aids, and parent volunteers), parents, community and law enforcement partners, youth employers, etc.
See attached flyer for additional information and do not hesitate to contact Monica Nepomuceno at MNepomuceno@cde.ca.gov if you have any questions.
