Sustainability Resources That Inform, So You Can Be Informed

We’ve all experienced this challenge.  It’s late in the day and you’ve just been asked to speak in two days at a regional meeting about youth and green jobs. Or, an item dealing with options for financing energy efficiency improvements in county buildings is on next week’s agenda and you want to be prepared to ask thoughtful questions.  These topics are important to the county and to you, but understanding the issues is a bit outside your comfort zone.  You want to be informed, be able to ask intelligent questions and represent the county’s interests effectively.  What to do?

Faced with the need to quickly get up to speed in these types of situations, most of us head for our computers and Google, hoping to find the information we need.  While not downplaying the value of a Google-search, county officials also might want to check out the sustainability publications and resources offered by the Institute for Local Government.

How might ILG’s Land Use and Sustainability Publications help those needing to know about youth and green jobs or financing energy efficiency?  Whitepapers addressing these topics are some of the publications offered by ILG to help local officials serve their communities.  These include:

To make the publications easily accessible, all of ILG’s publications are available for free download.

The Institute for Local Government is the non-profit research affiliate of the California State Association of Counties and the League of California Cities. Its mission is to promote good government at the local level with practical, impartial, and easy-to-use- resources for California communities.
