Is your glass half-full, or half-empty?
I am an eternal optimist, so I would say half-full, but sometimes you need to ask yourself why the glass is only half-full. Either you aren’t doing everything you can and operating at your highest level of efficiency, or you might be using the wrong glass.
What’s the most interesting or fulfilling part of your job?
Bringing larger projects to completion is always very fulfilling, but for me, the most fulfilling parts of my job are the little accomplishments. When a constituent calls you with a problem and you can help them solve it…whether it’s getting them in touch with the right people, or making a policy change, those are the times when I feel most accomplished. Making that personal connection and being able to make a direct and significant change in someone’s life has always been incredibly satisfying for me.
What’s your favorite movie of all time?
The Great Escape
What makes your county special?
I love Colusa County’s sense of community and togetherness. I grew up and went to school in larger counties where it was incredibly easy to get lost in the crowd. In Colusa County, everyone really does know everyone else. When someone needs help, the entire community rallies around them. Since moving to Colusa County, I have never felt lost or alone.
Do you have any words of advice for someone interested in becoming a Supervisor?
The best advice I received was that some people will always be upset no matter what decisions or choices you make. But, if you can be transparent and articulate why you make certain decisions after listening to all sides, they will understand. Always be truthful, humble, and kind.
