CARE Act: Upcoming Trainings and CARE Act County Website Directory

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has contracted with Health Management Associates (HMA) to provide Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) and data collection and reporting support for the Community Assistance, Recovery, and Empowerment (CARE) Act. The following upcoming training sessions and open-forum discussions are being offered in the following areas:

Data Collection and Reporting for Cohort I and Los Angeles County Program Staff

The HMA data team will be hosting two trainings specific to the data submission process. This targeted training is for Cohort I and LA county program staff that have a role in the CARE Act Data Collection and Reporting process, such as CARE program staff, data analysts, research managers, IT support, etc.  For more information, please email info@CARE-Act.org.

Role of the Peer in the CARE Process

Training Session: 
Thursday, November 16, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Open-Forum Discussion:
Friday, November 17, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

This training will provide an overview of how peers can participate in the CARE Act, as volunteer supporters, as part of the CARE team as peer support specialists, or in other ways as a supporter. Principles and core competencies of peer workers, including strategies and resources available for peers, will also be discussed.

The training and subsequent open-forum discussion are intended for behavioral health agencies, peer organizations, volunteer supporters, and other stakeholder groups involved in the CARE Act implementation process.

Role of the Family in the CARE Process and Introduction to Family Psychoeducation

Training Session:
Tuesday, December 5, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Open-Forum Discussion:
Wednesday, December 6, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

This training for volunteer supporters and other stakeholder groups will provide an introduction to the family role in the CARE Act, including a discussion of principles and models of Family Psychoeducation. Family support for persons with serious mental illness will also be discussed.

CARE Act County Website Directory

A new section of the CARE Act Resource website has been added that provides links to a directory of county-specific websites, including county behavioral health and court sites, specific to CARE. County websites will continue to be added throughout implementation of the CARE Act. The CARE Act County website directory is accessible here.
