Federal Grant Funding Available for Organic Waste Implementation

October 12, 2023

Through the Inflation Reduction Act, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is offering competitive grants to implement Priority Climate Action Plans (PCAP). The Climate Pollution Reduction Grant will be offering $4.6 billion in competitive implementation grants, including to counties, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution. The PCAP must include a greenhouse gas inventory and quantified reduction measures. Within these plans, local governments have the opportunity to incorporate organic waste reduction proposals to meet compliance of SB 1383. Additional program guidance from the EPA can be found here.

For those interested in applying, an informal Notice of Intent to Apply is due by February 1, 2024. Application packages must be submitted electronically at www.grants.gov no later than April 1, 2024, to be considered for funding. Questions should be submitted to CPRG@epa.gov.
