Governor Jerry Brown announced the appointment of Jay Virbel as
Director of the Division of Rehabilitative Programs at the
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
Mr. Virbel served as the associate director of female offender
programs and services since 2012. In his time as associate
director, he was charged with implementing the State’s
alternative custody program for females, as well as the Custody
to Community Transitional Reentry Program (CCTRP). These programs
focused on providing female inmates with a range of
rehabilitative services that assist with alcohol and drug
recovery, employment, education, housing, family reunification,
and social support.
