REMINDER: Children and Youth Evidence-Based and Community Defined Evidence Practices Grants Due in Two Weeks

October 19, 2023

The application window for two Evidence-Based Practice and Community-Defined Evidence Practice (EBP/CDEP) grants, as part of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), will close the first week of November. These two grants are part of a six-round grant series totaling $429 million for organizations and government entities to scale EBP/CDEPs that improve behavioral health based on robust evidence for effectiveness, impact on racial equity, and sustainability.

Round Three: Early Childhood Wraparound Services

This summer, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) released a Request for Application (RFA) for the third round of EBP/CDEP grants, which seeks proposals from individuals, organizations, and agencies to scale early childhood wraparound services, totaling $60 million. Eligible grant recipients include local agencies, such as First 5 associations, and county governments, including county behavioral health and public health departments. The deadline to submit applications, which was originally set to close on October 6, has been extended to November 1 at 5:00 pm. Additional information about the grant program, including the RFA and an FAQ document, can be found on the EBP/CDEP Grants webpage.

Round Five: Early Intervention Programs and Practices

Last month, DHCS, in partnership with the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC), released an RFA for the fifth round of EBP/CDEP grants, which seeks proposals to scale early intervention programs and practices that provide mental health and wellness services to children, youth, parents, and caregivers in California with a specific focus on children and youth from specified communities. Up to $80 million in total grants are available to eligible applicants, which include local agencies, such as First 5 associations, and county governments, including county behavioral health and public health departments. The deadline to submit applications is November 3 at 3:00 pm. Additional information about the grant program, including the RFA, budget worksheets, and FAQs, can be found on MHSOAC’s grant webpage.
