Description:
The County Manager’s Office of the County of San Mateo is seeking
qualified applicants for the position of Agenda Administrator for
the Clerk of the Board (Agenda Administrator) who is integral to
the smooth operation of the business of the County of San Mateo.
Using exceptional organization, keen interpersonal and unfailing
deadline management skills, the Agenda Administrator oversees the
bi-weekly development of the Board of Supervisor’s agenda and
serves as the secretary to the City Selection Committee. In
addition, the Agenda Administrator ensures the integrity,
accessibility and transparency of the public records for the
entities served by the County.
The ideal candidate for the position will have extensive
experience supporting executive management, preferably in a
government setting, and will have demonstrated success adhering
to mandated policies and procedures. Displaying comfort in
interacting with all levels of employees and citizenry while
maintaining decorum and practicing political astuteness are
essential skills. The Agenda Administrator will work with County
and City officials, department directors, office personnel,
community leaders and community members in gathering and
organizing agenda items; processing and certifying executed
resolutions, contracts and ordinances; consulting with and
advising staff and the public regarding Board policies,
procedures and practices; and providing information on past Board
resolutions, contracts and ordinances. This position will require
attendance at some evening meetings of committees or commissions.
Qualifications:
Specifically, the Agenda Administrator will:
• Oversee the Board of Supervisor’s agenda development process,
including development, posting, distribution and recordation
• Prepare agenda packets for action by the Board of
Supervisors
• Attend and serve as Clerk at Board of Supervisors’ and various
other meetings
• Serve as secretary to the City Selection Committee and provide
various administrative support to the Committee
• Describe and explain the procedures of the Board of
Supervisors
• Maintain and preserve Board of Supervisors’ records as mandated
by law
• Provide highly responsible and complex administrative support
to the Board of Supervisors
In addition to the above mentioned characteristics, the ideal
candidate will have:
• Demonstrated skills using SIRE technology, or a similar
electronic system, for agenda management and automation
• The ability to “get to yes”, a win-win solution
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• An ongoing interest in community service and the government
process
• The ability to synthesize information
• A willingness to learn new things
• The ability to learn the legal aspects of the position
