Description:

The County Manager for the County of San Mateo is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Budget Director in the Office of Budget, Policy, and Performance. Under the immediate supervision of the Budget Director, the Assistant Budget Director will be primarily responsible for supervising the Budget, Policy, and Performance Analysts and others in the preparation and maintenance of the County budget, performance reporting, analysis and evaluation of County programs, organizational reviews, and similar analysis.

The Assistant Budget Director must use independent judgment and the application of extensive knowledge of government finance, government programs, and organizations in solving a wide variety of complex problems involving continual public, intergovernmental and interdepartmental relations.

Qualifications:

A typical way to qualify is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in political science, business, or public administration, along with the equivalent of three years of highly responsible experience performing a wide variety of complex financial duties in a large complex public agency. Experience managing staff and managing day-to-day operations is required.
