The salary listed has been approved for the following increases effective:
November 2, 2013 – 5% and July 1, 2014 – 5% (Reflected in above salary)
July 1, 2015 – 5% (30.43 Base)

The County of El Dorado is conducting this recruitment to fill three (3) vacancies for the Community Development Agency – Transportation Division located in Placerville. One (1) full-time vacancy and two (2) Limited Term vacancies. It will also establish a list, for up to three months, which may be used to fill future full-time, part-time and extra-help vacancies.

Definition:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of difficult to complex pro­fessional civil engineering field and in the office; provides project coordination, direction, and review for other staff.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is the first working level for professional engineering work. Incumbents perform a variety of difficult engineering work, exercising great latitude for independent judgment. This class is distinguished from Associate in Civil Engineering, which exercises major supervisory responsibilities over an assigned function, whereas incumbent in this class perform a variety of professional work and exercise project coordination and training responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Where college degrees and/or college course credits are required, degrees and college units must be obtained from an accredited college or university. Courses from non-accredited institutions will not be evaluated for this requirement. If you are in your final quarter/semester of a bachelor’s degree program in an engineering discipline, you may apply and participate in the recruitment process, however, you cannot be hired until completion of your degree.

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in an engineering discipline. Additional work experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Senior Engineering Technician may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

Possession of a valid California certificate as an Engineer-in-Training,
AND
Four (4) years’ work experience at a level equivalent to the County’s class of Senior Engineering Technician.

Other Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Possession of a valid California certificate as an Engineer-in-Training is desirable.
