Salary: 

$170,186 to $206,856* annually
* In addition to the base salary, the County offers a competitive Executive Management benefit package including additional cashable compensation which provides for a total potential compensation package of $219,556 to $260,176 annually.

Description:

The San Joaquin County Administrator’s Office is seeking a well-rounded and dynamic leader with a strong business sense to join the staff of the County Administrator’s Office as an Assistant County Administrator. This is an at-will position that is exempt from the San Joaquin County Civil Service System. The position reports directly to the County Administrator and functions as a direct extension of the County Administrator’s authority, with responsibility for ensuring that the assigned functions comply with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as the policies established by the County Administrator and the Board of Supervisors. The Assistant County Administrator will have broad, independent responsibility for supervising, managing, and representing activities of the County Administrator’s Office, including county-wide budgetary responsibility.
The ideal candidate will have a strong administrative background with demonstrated skills in budget, finance, business analysis, economic development, human resources, labor relations, strategic/organizational planning, public policy and intergovernmental relations. Candidates must possess superior interpersonal/communication skills, and have political astuteness with high ethical values, and have the ability to balance fiscal responsibility with program needs.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in business or public administration, accounting, economics, social or behavioral sciences, or a closely related filed, and seven years of management-level experience in a California state or local government setting that included responsibility for fiscal, personnel, administrative and/or analytical programs which required major program planning, budgeting, and implementation, is required.
