Description:

The Contra Costa County Assessor’s Office is seeking candidates to fill vacancies for Auditor-Appraiser I. Auditor- Appraiser I is the entry-level class in the Auditor-Appraiser series. Individuals in this position receive training in the techniques and procedures involved in appraising commercial and industrial property for tax assessment purposes, which includes instruction on the fundamentals of analyzing and auditing financial and other records of commercial and industrial firms for tax assessment purposes. Once trained, incumbents will be assigned the more routine audits and appraisals of commercial and industrial property and fixtures of small business firms.

Employees in this classification are required to provide their own transportation. Mileage reimbursement is handled in accordance with County policy. Incumbents in this classification will serve a one (1) year probationary period.

Qualifications:

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.

Certificate Required: Appointees must meet appraiser certification requirements established by the California State Board of Equalization within one (1) year of appointment.

Education: Either: 1) Possession of a Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in accounting or a closely related field, which must have included at least 18 semester units or 27 quarter units of accounting and/or auditing; or 2) possession of a valid Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License issued by the California Board of Accountancy.
