Description:

The Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Department of Finance are accepting applications for the position of Auditor I/II.

There is currently one (1) full-time vacancy which will be filled at either the Auditor I or Auditor II level in the Department of Finance.

Under the direction of the Internal Audit Manager, auditors perform professional accounting and auditing work of a varied nature which include providing County-wide accounting services, auditing operations of county agencies, contractors and special districts, and performing state-mandated audits. This position participates in policy development to ensure alignment with proper internal controls. In addition, auditors ensure that work performed conforms to Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) for governmental and commercial entities, including Governmental Auditing Standards (GAS) and Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS).

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, flexible, accurate and is able to work independently. In addition, the ideal candidate has thorough knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing standards and practices and applicable State, Federal and local government laws and regulations influencing County fiscal operations. Being an excellent communicator in both written and verbal forms is essential in this position in order to effectively communicate to internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate has experience identifying internal control weakness and has experience developing recommendations for process improvements. The ideal candidate has experience using financial enterprise systems, possesses the ability to work with a diverse group of County agencies, and has strong analytical and project management skills. A successful auditor will be pro-active, self-motivated and will work well in a fast-paced environment while consistently delivering high-quality work on a timely basis.
