Description:

Calaveras County, CA (population approximately 48,000) is located in the heart of the California Gold Country. The County Board of Supervisors is now seeking a Building Official, responsible for the overall operation of the County’s Building and Code Compliance divisions while managing a budget of approximately $1.5 million and a full-time staff of 15. The ideal candidate will possess stellar understanding of model codes and code interpretation, as well as building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire codes.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess five (5) years of responsible work experience in construction, with demonstrated knowledge of Uniform Building Codes; five (5) years of supervisory experience, two (2) of which should be at the level of a Chief Building Official/Deputy Community Development Agency Director or equivalent; certification as a Building Official from the International Code Council (ICC); and a valid California Driver License. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
