The County of San Diego is seeking a proven servant leader to fill a rewarding position for Chief Deputy, Assessor for the Office of Jordan Z. Marks, Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk (ARCC). This position, with a staff of over 280 full-time employees and nearly $48.0 million in budget authority, reports directly to the elected Assessor and Chief of Staff. It is primarily responsible for providing operational direction, management, and leadership of the Assessor Team.

Qualifications:

Qualifying candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency AND at least five (5) years of professional experience in ad valorem assessment, fee appraisal, or real estate administration. Experience must include three (3) years of senior management-level experience and/or supervisory experience. A bachelor’s degree is preferred in real estate, business/public administration, civil engineering/planning, accounting, or a related field. A master’s degree is highly desirable. Additional years of experience as stated above will substitute for the education requirement on a year for year basis. Required Certification • Ability to acquire a temporary California Board of Equalization certificate 90 days after appointment. • Ability to acquire permanent California Board of Equalization certification within 12 months of appointment.
