Description:

This position is unclassified and is responsible for the executive administration of the department in accounting for auditing and controlling the receipts, disbursements, funds and financial transactions of all departments and other agencies under the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors. This position is distinguished by its executive, management, and administrative responsibility for assisting the Auditor Controller in managing the day-to-day operations of the department.

Qualifications:

Qualifying Experience:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, information systems, management, public administration or a related field; and one year’s experience as an Assistant Auditor Controller in the County of Los Angeles, or four years’ experience managing financial operations of a major division within a large government organization.

Such management includes directing: line accounting, auditing and related technical functions; the continued development, installation, and evaluation of new or modified financial control systems, both automated and manual; or, the budget, personnel, fiscal, supply and other administrative functions of an organization.


Desirable Qualifications:

Knowledge of State and local law relative to the functions, duties and responsibilities of the County Auditor and ex-officio County Controller.

Knowledge of the concepts of management information systems.

Understanding of the principles of management auditing and consulting and knowledge of generally accepted governmental auditing standards.

Possession of a valid Certified Public Accountant license issued by the State of California, a valid Certified Internal Auditor certificate issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors, or a valid Certified Information Systems Auditor certificate issued by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities required to work effectively with public officials, the management of County departments, outside agencies, and the public.
