Description:

The County Administrator’s Office is recruiting for a Chief Deputy County Administrator to lead the

County’s Economic Development Program. The Board of Supervisors adopted the County’s Economic Development Vision and Implementation Plan, comprised of eight key strategic elements that are geared toward providing greater opportunities to facilitate value-added development that will ultimately improve the quality-of-life in the community long-term.

 

Eight Key Recommendations in County’s Economic and Development Vision and Implementation Plan: 1) Economic Development Focus, 2) Economic Development Marketing, 3) Business Climate/Talent, 4) Site and Infrastructure, 5) Entrepreneurship, 6) Tourism, 7) Education and Workforce Development, and 8) Quality of Life.

The Chief Deputy County Administrator will lead efforts to implement the Plan. Recent outreach and marketing activities include: establishment of a satellite economic development office in San Jose; development of the Greater Silicon Valley branding; and became a member of the Silicon Valley Joint Venture. San Joaquin County has been designated by the Governor as iHub San Joaquin, which is one of 16 iHubs throughout the State of California that were designed to stimulate partnerships, economic development, and job creation around specific research clusters. iHub San Joaquin focuses primarily on health care, sustainable construction, and agri-business.

Qualifications:

Desired Qualifications include a master’s degree in public or business administration, accounting, economics, community development, planning, or a closely-related field and five years of senior-level managerial experience with responsibility for developing, administering, and directing economic development programs in a county or municipal government setting.
