Orange County

Salary:

Salary is dependent upon qualifications.

Description:

Whether it’s manicured beach towns or celebrated theme parks, all framed by oceanfront towns and luxury yachts, Orange County is commonly known as “The OC” and stands out as one of the state’s most iconic destinations. With a population of over 3.3 million residents, Orange County is the sixth largest County in the United States. Residents enjoy over 42 miles of pristine beaches, three major harbors, vast wilderness parks, beautiful nature preserves, and approximately 402 miles of riding and hiking trails.

The OC Probation Department has approximately 1,200 staff and has served the people and courts of Orange County since 1909. Its Deputy Probation Officers supervise approximately 15,000 adults and juveniles at any given time. OC Probation provides community supervision for offenders selected by the court for monitoring after their release from jail. It holds probationers accountable for their behavior, but also allows them the chance to continue to work to support their families, pay taxes, and repay the victims of their crimes.

The CDPO reports directly to the Chief Probation Officer (CPO) and receives guidance in accordance with broad program goals and administrative directives to oversee the operations of any of the department’s Operation Bureaus. The CDPO plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and reviews all functions and activities within a specific Bureau, may assist the CPO in the administration of the Probation Department, and may act in his/her absence.
