Description:

The County of Kings is seeking a proven leader to lead and manage the Information Technology Department. This executive level at-will position reports directly to the Board of Supervisors. The Chief Information Officer is responsible for directing, planning, and organizing the activities of the Information Technology Department including management and on-going support of all technology and telecommunications systems and services. In addition to information technology, this position oversees the management of the following divisions: Records Management, Central Services and Purchasing.

Option 1
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college with major course work in computer science, management information systems, business or a related field.
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience in a leadership or management role in a computer systems and programming environment for a government or business entity similar in size and scope of technology activities to Kings County.

Option 2
Education: Equivalent to a two-year degree from an accredited institution with course work in computer science, management information systems, business or a related field.
Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible experience in a leadership or management role in a computer systems and programming environment for a government or business entity similar in size and scope of technology activities to Kings County.

Option 3
Experience: Six years of increasingly responsible experience in a leadership or management role in a computer systems and programming environment for a government or business entity similar in size and scope of technology activities to Kings County. (The equivalent of one year in course work in computer science, management information systems, business or a related field may substitute for up to one year of the required experience).

Desirable Qualification: Demonstrated experience overseeing large or complex projects involving multiple divisions within an IT organization is preferred.

License: Possession of a valid, appropriate California driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Special Requirements: Ability to work irregular hours as necessary; travel within and outside the County as necessary.
