Description:
The Ione City Council is seeking an effective leader and
“hands-on” professional administrator to serve as its next City
Manager. Individuals with excellent management skills, a
collaborative, team-building style and the ability to effectively
and efficiently achieve the community goals of the Council are
encouraged to apply. Candidates with a management style that is
characterized by open, transparent communication, responsiveness
and the ability to achieve goals despite limitations on staffing
and funding will be highly successful in the City of Ione. The
Council is looking for a City Manager with the ability to
administer available funding proficiently and the talent to find
new financial resources with which to meet the City’s goals
despite economic limitations.
The new City Manager will be working to:
• Develop new funding sources to improve the financial condition
of the City
• Identify funding sources to implement capital improvement
projects including: City Hall upgrades, wastewater facility
improvements, new police facilities and park improvements
• Evaluate capital equipment and operational needs and funding
sources of City departments
• Attract and retain local businesses
• Implement community based economic development programs
• Re-purpose public facilities to generate local economic
activity
• Work with the development community on approved residential and
commercial projects
• Promote effective leadership, accountability, and fiscal
responsibility within the City
• Improve the delivery of services and programs within the City
Qualifications:
The Ione City Council is seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s
degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a
closely related field, with at least five year’s management-level
experience, preferably in the area of local government
administration, personnel supervision and financial management. A
Master’s degree with experience working with elected officials,
Economic Development programs and Wastewater system compliance
issues is highly desirable.
The successful candidate shall have demonstrated experience and
expertise in financial and budget management, agency
administration, the ability to build and maintain positive
working relationships, and to effectively communicate comfortably
with a variety of individuals, groups, and outside agencies. The
ideal candidate will display uncompromising professional ethics
and have a proven track-record of successes with previous
organizations.
