Description:

Known as the “Crossroads of California,” Manteca (population over 73,750) is located near the northern end of the San Joaquin Valley in southern San Joaquin County. The City of Manteca is seeking a knowledgeable, capable, and experience Community Development Director. Candidates must exhibit excellent communication and customer services skills and demonstrate the ability to work well in a collaborative environment in which the views, contributions, and perspectives of staff are respected. The chosen candidate will embrace the opportunity to serve in a hands-on capacity, as the Community Development Director must both lead and mentor staff and ensure quality performance from consultants engaged to work on City projects.

Qualifications:

Candidates for this position must have significant experience in public sector planning and building and the ability to provide effective management and oversight of a variety of community development activities. Five years of senior administrative and management responsibility is expected. A strong candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a planning-related field; a Master’s degree is desirable.
