Annual salary range: $137,306 – $166,897

Description:

Nestled in the northern Sacramento Valley, Tehama County and the County seat of Red Bluff lie approximately midway between Sacramento and the Oregon border. The County’s affordable housing costs and family-friendly environment make it an exceptional place to live, work and raise a family.

Under the direction of the Board of Supervisors, the County Counsel acts as the chief legal counsel for the County, the Board of Supervisors, all County government departments and several special districts; represents the County on assigned litigation, legislation and business matters; prepares and administers the department budget and related administrative work as required.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will be strong generalist legal professionals who are well-versed in public law with experience in transactional/ advisory work in a public agency. He/she is energetic, self-motivated, dependable, and highly ethical with a proven track record for providing sound and practical legal advice on a range of topics relating to local government. Strong candidates enjoy mentoring and preparing less experienced staff to ensure their professional development and effective succession planning. Experience in Land Use, Personnel, Public Safety, Tort and Public Contract law is desired. Active membership in the California Bar is required.
