Description:

One current vacancy in the County Counsel’s Office which will be dedicated to Child Protective Services (CPS), although prior CPS experience is not required. Future vacancies for this position may be filled from the eligible list to be established. The expected life of the eligible list is six months and it may be extended for up to 18 months (24 months total).
The County Counsel’s office serves as the civil attorney for the Kings County government, its departments, boards and commissions, and other special districts and government agencies covering a wide range of law and topics. The attorneys of the County Counsel’s office are expected to show initiative, to demonstrate dedication to their jobs, to work well in a team, and to communicate effectively, whether in writing or verbally, with a wide variety of audiences.

Qualifications:

Education: Possession of active, valid membership in the California State Bar is evidence of sufficient education for this classification.

LEVEL I:
Experience: No previous experience as a licensed attorney is required.

LEVEL II:
Experience: One year of experience equivalent to a Deputy County Counsel I in Kings County; OR two years of experience practicing as a licensed attorney.
