Description:

The primary purpose of the position is to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the major functions of the Community Development Department as assigned, such as Planning, Building Permit and Inspection, Code Compliance, and Engineering Services; and to provide highly complex staff assistance to the Community Development Director. The primary area of functional responsibility for this position will be to oversee and manage the Planning, Building, and Engineering Divisions of the department. The position will work closely with the Principal Planner who oversees current and long range planning, the Chief Building Official who oversees building permitting, inspection, and code compliance, as well as the City Engineer who manages the utility, transportation, capital projects, and development engineering functions of the City.

Qualifications:

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban planning, architecture, geography, public administration or related field.
Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible public or private sector planning, urban design, redevelopment, building, or engineering experience, including at least two years of significant supervisory responsibilities.
Bilingual experience is desired
License or Certificate
Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners preferred.
