Description:

The County of Santa Clara is seeking an experienced leader of excellent character and integrity who reflects the vision and shares the mission of the County.

The Director of Environmental Health is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and managing the administrative and operational activities of the Environmental Health Department within the Consumer and Environmental Protection Agency (CEPA). This is an executive management position that reports directly to the Director of the Consumer and Environmental Protection Agency.

Qualifications:

Possession of a current, valid Certificate of Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist issued by the State of California is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health or a closely related field, and a minimum of 5 years recent progressively responsible experience working in an Environmental Health program. At least 2 years experience managing a multifaceted Environmental Health program, with a minimum of 3 years of experience performing the duties of a California Registered Environmental Health Specialist. A Master’s Degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the general experience. Administrative experience handling complex budgets and programs is desirable.
