The Director of Land Use Services is responsible for the administration of the Land Use Services Department and the oversight of County land use, including planning, environmental health, code enforcement, building inspection and plan review functions. This position reports directly to the Assistant County Administrative Executive Officer.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a visionary and strategic manager who understands the effectiveness of being a team player and leading from the front. Build and maintain a departmental culture where employees will thrive in an environment of practical process improvement and enterprise solutions. Strong technical knowledge (CEQA, Subdivision Map Act, etc.) and regulatory planning skills combined with a willingness to invest in staff development and community relationships, and a commitment to the organizational vision and mission are a must – a passion for the work and a sense of humor are helpful. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the responsibilities of the position (a Master’s Degree is desirable) and five (5) years of administrative and/or management experience in a complex organization with responsibility for budget development and management, financial analysis, capital improvement projects, and intergovernmental liaison is required. Experience working for a city, county, or public sector special district including in-depth knowledge of service programs, and oversight and responsibility for budget and fiscal administration is expected.
