Are you an experienced leader of programs for the arts? The Santa Barbara County Arts Commission is accepting applications to fill a full time vacancy for the Executive Director in Santa Barbara. This critical role is responsible for developing and promoting visual and performing arts and cultural affairs as integral parts of local government. Reporting to the Community Service Department Director with dotted-line responsibility to the Board of Supervisors through the County Arts Commission and to the Santa Barbara City Council through the City’s Director of Community Development, the Executive Director develops and administers contracts for arts services and cultural affairs activities between the County and other cities within the boundaries of Santa Barbara County.

Qualifications:

1) Possession of a bachelor’s degree in art history, museum science, public administration, or related field and three years of experience coordinating public art projects that included grant writing, contract preparation, budget administration, and supervising staff; or,
2) a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
