This position is assigned to the Auditor-Controller’s Office. The Auditor-Controller is an elected position. The Manager IV designation is the highest level in the Management series.

The incumbent will be responsible for the management and operations of the Internal Audit division. The Internal Audit Manager will answer directly to the Auditor-Controller. Assignments will consist of completion of compliance and operational engagements which include monitoring the decentralization of accounting functions and compliance with various controls, policies and procedures. Reports are issued to the Board of Supervisors, Grand Jury and Chief Executive Officer providing recommendations for strengthening controls and providing further operating efficiencies. The audit work is performed under professional standards, issued by The Institute of Internal Auditors (when applicable) in providing accountability and transparency to the public. 

Qualifications:

Pattern I – Bachelor of Science degree with major or work in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and four (4) years experience in professional auditing or experience performing complex accounting work or other tasks equivalent to a Stanislaus County Manager III, OR

Pattern II – Bachelor of Arts or Science from an accredited college or university, including 24 semester units in Pattern I and five (5) years experience in professional auditing or experience performing complex accounting work or other tasks equivalent to a Stanislaus County Manager III.

Desirable Qualifications:
• Registration as a Certified Public Accountant, highly desirable, in the State of California, or Certified Fraud Examiner, or Certified Internal Auditor. License A type is preferred under the Certified Public Accountant designation.

• Possession of a Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree from an accredited college with an emphasis in Accounting.

• Experience as an Internal Auditor, preferably in the government sector. Two (2) years experience under Pattern I and three (3) years experience under Pattern II is desirable.
