Description:

As a Land Use/Environmental Planner II supporting the County’s Airports Division, you will provide assistance to staff and management regarding a full range of airports functions, including operations, maintenance activities, public relations, real property, and long-term facility and environmental planning. You will coordinate the preparation of airport reviews and studies, including Part 150 studies, Master Planning, Airport Layout Plans, etc. to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) advisory circulars, State, and Local regulations and development guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications 1.A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, in airport/aviation management or closely related field, AND, two (2) years of progressively responsible professional level experience in airport planning. Experience must be at the level equivalent to a Land Use/Environmental Planner I within the County of San Diego; OR,
2.A master’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, in airport/aviation management or closely related field, AND, one (1) year of progressively responsible professional level experience as described above; OR,
3.One (1) year of experience as a Land Use/Environmental Planner I with the County of San Diego.
Note: Professional level experience in a public or private agency may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, for up to two (2) years of the education requirement.

An American Association of Airport Executives certification in planning is highly desirable.
