Description:

The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) is recruiting for one Legislative Analyst for its Sacramento office, in the Health and Human Services policy area.

Legislative Analysts are responsible for tracking and analyzing legislative and budget proposals; drafting language for proposed bill amendments; preparing research documents; preparing agendas for and participating as a resource in policy committee meetings; and, writing letters, reports and articles concerning proposed legislation and the state budget.

Qualifications:

An ideal candidate would possess experience with and knowledge of legislative research; county government functions and operations; the legislative process and its relationship to county government; budgeting principles; and applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, codes, and/or statutes. Superior business writing skills are highly desirable.  Knowledge of California Health and Human Services programs and/or fiscal data analysis preferred. 

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public administration or a related field and three years of experience working with the State Legislature or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
