Description:

• Supervises the activities and day-to-day operations of a liability, employee health/injury or insurance Claims Section which manages and administrates the Countys liabilities, including malpractice, personal injury, illness, health care, Workers Compensation, property and personal claims cases; assigns, evaluates and supervises the investigation and adjusting of all claims by staff and outside adjusting firms; monitors adjusting techniques; approves recommended settlement value within authorized monetary authority.
• Receives, reviews, accepts or denies claims; evaluates medical reports and reports of experts to determine liability and damages; evaluates merit of claims and estimates anticipated settlement value.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration or a related field which included specialized coursework directly related to insurance administration, claims adjustment or claims management. A valid certificate from a nationally recognized claims organization, such as the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA), may substitute for the Bachelors degree.

Experience: Considerable (at least three years) journey or higher level experience in the direct administration, or management of, liability claims including reviewing, evaluating and investigating highly complex cases involving tort liability, physical disability, personal injury, property damage, health insurance, medical malpractice, fraudulent or subrogation claims including medical injuries, personal injury and property damage.

License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Drivers License.
