Description:

Riverside County’s Transportation and Land Management Agency (TLMA) – Planning Department has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Planner in Riverside! The Principal Planner will be responsible for managing complex planning cases, as well as supervising Planners in the department to ensure timeliness and operational efficiency. The selected candidate will also be responsible for interacting with and presenting to members of the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission.

Qualification:

Competitive candidates will have experience in project management as a project lead or supervisor, and demonstrated experience presenting planning projects to members of the community/general public, other planning professionals, as well as elected or appointed members of governmental agencies. Competitive candidates will also have knowledge of the Subdivision Map Act.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in planning, transportation planning, public administration, geography (with related course concentration), architecture, environmental sciences, landscape architecture, or a closely related field. (Education substitution: A master’s degree in planning or transportation planning may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience. A master’s degree in public administration, geography-with related course concentration, architecture, environmental sciences, landscape architecture, or a closely related field may be substituted for six months of the required non-supervisory experience
Experience: Four years of professional environmental planning, land use planning, or transportation planning experience which must have included performing at least two kinds of the following planning activities associated with a planning agency. One year of experience must have been in a lead or supervisory capacity.
